LAist

Public media programming across Southern California reaches audiences through this organization, which operates as the broadcast arm of Southern California Public Radio. The network transmits on 89.3 FM in Los Angeles, 89.1 FM in Joshua Tree, and 90.3 FM in Santa Barbara, providing extensive regional coverage. Journalists produce investigative reports, daily news updates, and cultural analysis tailored to the diverse population of the Greater Los Angeles area.

Programming includes local adaptations of national public radio staples alongside original shows such as AirTalk with Larry Mantle. The organization maintains its headquarters in Pasadena and frequently coordinates public forums to discuss legislative and social issues affecting the region. Laist.com functions as the primary digital portal for this content, hosting on-demand podcasts and written journalism. Editorial efforts focus on civic engagement, regional climate policy, and local transportation infrastructure, prioritizing empirical data over commentary.
