Angel Radio

Nostalgia defines the sonic identity of this Havant-based broadcaster, which commits its airtime exclusively to music recorded before 1960. By focusing on the golden age of melody, the station preserves vintage recordings that rarely receive airplay on contemporary commercial outlets. Listeners access this curated archive through 101.1 FM in the local area, supported by a team of dedicated volunteers who manage both technical operations and programming content. The schedule features a high concentration of big band standards, swing, and early pop vocals, avoiding modern chart-based audio. Dedicated community outreach efforts emphasize the social needs of elderly residents, providing companionship through decades of music history. Information about their volunteer-led production model and archival efforts is available on angelradio.co.uk. This initiative remains a rare example of a community-focused project specifically tailored for listeners interested in the cultural heritage of the early twentieth century.
