La B Grande

Broadcasting on 1220 AM, this station represents the oldest radio institution in Mexico, having launched its initial transmissions on September 14, 1923. Originally established under the call sign CYB by the Compañía Cigarrera del Buen Tono, it has evolved into a vital component of the Instituto Mexicano de la Radio network. The programming schedule centers on Spanish-language classic hits, featuring a collection of romantic, tropical, and traditional Mexican music spanning from the 1940s to the present day. Listeners can access the feed through its primary amplitude-modulated frequency or via digital platforms hosted on the station's official website at imer.mx/xeb. Beyond its musical archive, the station disseminates news reports from the Sistema Nacional de Noticiarios. It holds a distinctive technical status in North America as one of the few stations authorized for 100,000 watts of power. Broadcasts originate from Mexico City, anchoring a legacy that includes historic narrations of international sporting events and cultural milestones.
