WEQX

From its unique position originating from a Victorian house in Manchester Center, Vermont, WEQX has cultivated a distinct identity as "The Real Alternative" since its inception on November 14, 1984. The station's powerful 102.7 FM signal, amplified by its transmitter on Mount Equinox to the equivalent of 50,000 watts, extends its reach across southern Vermont, the Capital District of New York, and into parts of western Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This independent station champions an eclectic blend of alternative and indie rock, often breaking new artists and defying the conventions of larger commercial broadcasters. Its programming includes specialized segments like "CLEAN Jams," focusing on rap, hip-hop, and recovery, and "EQXposure," dedicated to local music from the surrounding region. WEQX maintains a deep connection with its listenership through various community events and concert promotions.
