Sankofa Radio

Akan cultural heritage defines the sonic identity of this outlet, prioritizing the dissemination of Twi-language programming alongside traditional and contemporary Ghanaian sounds. Listeners in Kumasi engage with a format that balances news updates, community discourse, and the rhythmic complexities of Highlife and Hiplife music. Sankofa Radio avoids the typical commercial pop-heavy rotation found elsewhere, choosing instead to emphasize local linguistic nuances and indigenous storytelling traditions. Through its web presence at sankofaradio.com, the station maintains a bridge for the Ashanti region's diaspora while providing daily updates relevant to residents of the Garden City. It functions as a platform for cultural preservation by highlighting local dialect usage in both political talk shows and musical showcases. This commitment to the Asante heritage sets the station apart from internationalized urban formats in the Ashanti region.
