Broadcasting across France and from its historical base in Monaco, RMC, originally Radio Monte-Carlo, commenced operations on July 1, 1943. While initially established during World War II, the station transitioned to a private commercial entity, strategically leveraging its Monegasque location to operate independently of the French state's post-war radio monopoly. Today, it stands as a prominent French-Monégasque generalist radio station, distinguished by its focus on opinion-driven talk shows, comprehensive news coverage, and extensive sports commentary.

RMC's programming features interactive debates on political, social, and sporting events, encouraging direct listener participation. Signature programs include "Les Grandes Gueules," known for its robust discussions, and "After Foot," providing in-depth analysis of football. The station reaches a wide audience across France via a network of FM frequencies, such as 103.1 MHz in Paris, 104.3 MHz in Marseille, and 104.2 MHz in Lyon. It also transmits on 98.8 MHz in Monaco and utilizes DAB+ digital broadcasting. Ownership of RMC was acquired by the CMA CGM Group in July 2024, integrating it into the CMA Media division.
