Radio 1

Broadcasting from Prague on the 91.9 FM frequency, this outlet maintains a specialized focus on alternative music, independent rock, and electronic genres. It emerged as the first private radio station in the former Czechoslovakia, launching in 1990 following the Velvet Revolution. The programming schedule prioritizes non-mainstream artists and provides space for niche musical movements that rarely receive airtime on commercial media. In addition to music, the station broadcasts talk shows covering independent film, contemporary art, and urban culture. Listeners can access the stream via the radio1.cz domain, which also hosts an archive of past shows. The station maintains a non-profit operational model, allowing for a degree of editorial independence regarding its playlists.
