KXLU 88.9 FM

Operating on the 88.9 MHz frequency, this station functions as the non-commercial broadcast outlet of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. It maintains a primary focus on underground, independent, and experimental music programming. Student volunteers and community members manage daily operations, producing specialized shows ranging from noise rock and free jazz to international folk and electronic explorations.

Licensing for the broadcast originates from the Westchester neighborhood, where the transmitter site provides coverage across much of the Los Angeles basin. The station occupies a historical position in local media, having transitioned from a campus-only carrier current system to a professional FM broadcast in 1957. Regular programming often highlights local musical developments and rare archival recordings not available on commercial platforms. Listeners access station updates and show schedules directly through kxlu.com.
