KPOO

Broadcasting on 89.5 FM, this station operates as a non-commercial, community-supported outlet based in San Francisco, California. The station is owned and operated by Poor Magazine's parent organization, Poor News Network, which focuses on providing a platform for voices often excluded from mainstream media. Programming includes a diverse selection of jazz, blues, hip-hop, and reggae, alongside public affairs programs that address local political and social issues. Unlike many commercial broadcasters, the station relies on listener contributions and volunteer staff to manage daily operations and studio broadcasts. Studios are located in the Western Addition neighborhood, allowing the station to maintain direct ties to the local community. Specific shows feature in-depth interviews with grassroots activists and independent musicians who lack national distribution.
