FunX Rotterdam

Situated within the vibrant port city of Rotterdam, FunX went on air on August 3, 2002, establishing itself as a dedicated voice for the urban youth. This public radio station emerged from an initiative by local broadcasters and municipalities of the Netherlands' four major cities, seeking to serve a young, multicultural audience. Transmitting on 91.8 FM in Rotterdam, the station swiftly became known for its dynamic blend of music, spanning hip-hop, R&B, Latin, reggae, and Afrobeats. FunX Rotterdam distinguishes itself by actively engaging its listeners, providing a platform for diverse perspectives and featuring local content, notably through its program "Jouw Stad" (Your City). Its programming often highlights informative segments and cultural discussions pertinent to Rotterdam's community, to maintain local relevance. The station consistently explores societal issues and lifestyle topics relevant to its target demographic of 15 to 35-year-olds, many of whom have non-Dutch backgrounds. In addition to its local programming, FunX operates as part of a broader national network, maintaining its commitment to representing contemporary urban trends and promoting dialogue among young people.
